Students who have completed or are about to complete a Masters degree and intend to go on to prepare a PhD can apply for two main types of fellowships:
These are four-year PhD fellowships funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. Recipients receive a salary of approximately 1,173 EUR/month and all regular provisions for university research fellows, including office space. To apply for an FPU fellowship you must have a confirmed PhD supervisor belonging to any of the institutions of higher education in Spain.

These are three-year PhD fellowships funded by the Autonomous Government of Galicia. Recipients receive a salary of approximately 1,173 EUR/month and all regular provisions for university research fellows, including office space. To apply for a Plan I2C fellowship you must have a confirmed PhD supervisor belonging to one of the institutions of higher education in Galicia (UDC, USC or UVigo).

These are two-year PhD fellowships funded by the University of Vigo. Recipients receive a salary of approximately 20,500 EUR/year and all regular provisions for university research fellows, including office space. To apply for one of these fellowhips you must be a PhD student registered at the University of Vigo.
