The biopic as an empowering tool at the hands of African American Feminism

On March 29, 2022, María Platas Alonso (UVigo) defended her doctoral thesis entitled El biopic como género empoderador en la cinematografía feminista afroamericana, supervised by Prof. Belén Martín Lucas within the Consolidated Research Group BIFEGA: Literary and Cultural Studies, Translation and Interpretation (Ref. ED431C-2020/04) and the Research Project “Bodies in Transit: Difference and Indifference” (Ref. FFI2017-84555-C2-2-P). She obtained the highest qualification.
