Join Graduate Day 2018!


The Inter-university Doctoral programme in Advanced English Studies: Linguistics, Literature and Culture, run by the Universities of A Coruña (UDC), Santiago de Compostela (USC) and Vigo (UVigo), invites you to attend and participate in IDAES Graduate Day 2018, which will be held at the University of Vigo (Facultade de Filoloxía e Tradución, Salón de Graos) on May 4th 2018, 11:00am–6:15pm.

IDAES Graduate Day 2018 will be a one-day academic event consisting of the following activities (definitive schedule):

11:00-12:15: Welcome and opening lecture by Prof. Isabel Carrera Suárez (University of Oviedo): "Researching literatures in English: art and science of reading the world" (Chair: Belén Martín Lucas)
12:15-12:45: Coffee-break (Faculty canteen)
12:45-13:45: Round table "O posgrao en Estudos Ingleses". Teresa Fanego (USC, director of IMAES); Margarita Estévez Saa (USC, director of IDAES); PhD students (UDC: Noelia Galán, USC: Inmaculada Pérez, UVigo: Selene Molares); Ignacio Palacios Martínez (USC); postdoctoral 'Juan de la Cierva' researcher David Tizón Couto (UVigo); Pascual Pérez-Paredes (Cambridge) (Chair: Javier Pérez Guerra)
13:45-15:00: Lunch (Faculty canteen; approx. 5€)
15:00-17:15: Presentation of doctoral candidates' research projects (Chairs: María Jesús Lorenzo Modia, Isabel Moskowich-Spiegel Fandiño): rooms B3 (Literature and culture) and B4B (Language and linguistics)
17:15-18:15: Closing lecture by Prof. Pascual Pérez-Paredes (University of Cambridge): "An overview of the research at the crossroads of corpus linguistics and language education" (Chair: Ignacio Palacios Martínez)
(Only for members of the committee) 18:30-: Sesión ordinaria da Comisión académica interuniversitaria do programa (Sala de Xuntas, FFT)

Registered students will be issued official attendance certificates. PhD students who present their research during the event will have 5-8 minutes for their presentation, and will also be issued official participation certificates.
